St. John’s Looking for a new Master

St. John’s College was founded in 1912 by the Anglican Church and is a Statutory body under CAP1089 of the Laws of Hong Kong. The College serves the University of Hong Kong as a residential college for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University. The mission of the College is to provide accommodation for teachers and students of all races where they may live, study and worship together from which future leaders may be nurtured.

The present Master will be retiring on 30th June 2022. The College is seeking appropriate person to succeed the retiring Master with the following particulars:

Requirements
1. The Master should possess good academic standing with an appreciation of the Oxbridge tradition, good knowledge of Anglican ethos and embraces the mission of the College.
2. The Master should possess a solid experience in residential college management and a keen interest in student holistic development.
3. The Master should be a resident of the College.

Role and Responsibilities
The Master serves as the chief administrative officer, controller of finance, budget and staff. He is responsible for admission of students; their moral, academic and social development and the development of College common life. The Master represents the College in its affiliation with the University. He is responsible to the College Council.

Terms of Service
This is a 5-year appointment. Salary will commensurate with the rank of Associate Professorship serving on a part-time basis. Master’s residence will be provided.
