A Historic Night: St. John’s College Successfully Launches GAIN-Europe Global Reunion!
What an unforgettable night! On 7 September 2025, the St. John’s College Alumni Association (SJCAA) made history by successfully launching the GAIN (Global Alumni International Network) – Europe chapter, connecting Johnians across continents in real-time.
The evening began with simultaneous in-person gatherings:
Hong Kong: A festive BBQ dinner at the College Dining Hall.
Europe: Cozy brunches in London, Zurich, and Paris.
The highlight was the global Zoom call at 7:00 PM HKT, which united us all. We were especially honoured to be joined by our President, Dr. Vivian Wong, and our Assistant Master, Dr. Paul Lee, who dialled in from Shenzhen to share in this momentous occasion.
The event was a heartwarming blend of reconnection and updates:
Alumni from around the world had the chance to introduce themselves, rekindling friendships after many years.
Our Alumni Association Chairman, Mr. Vincent Chiu, outlined the vision of GAIN and shared updates on past and upcoming alumni programmes.
Augusta Tang, Alumni Secretary of the current Students’ Association, provided a lively update on SA events and this year’s orientation.
Dr. Paul Lee delivered an inspiring update from the College, highlighting student composition, and recent sports and academic achievements.
Representatives from each European city then shared stories about their local alumni communities and activities.

The night concluded on a powerful, unifying note with a global rendition of the College Song, sung passionately by participants from every location.
This is just the beginning. The next GAIN chapter is already in the works for North America or China! Details will be announced in due course.
