A Resounding Success:
Summary of the “Da VINCI MEETS Da VINCI” Exhibition
The St. John’s College Alumni Association is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the art exhibition, “Da VINCI MEETS Da VINCI: Reimagining Da Vinci’s Legacy in the 21st Century,” held from 7th to 11th November 2025. This landmark event, from its initial conception to its final day, has been an inspiring journey of art, memory, and community spirit.
A Vision Realized
The exhibition was born from a shared vision to honour the legacy of two beloved alumni, the late Mr. James Wong Man Tai and Ms. Michelle Lam Chow. What began as a promise has blossomed into a profound tribute, featuring the exquisite work of our esteemed alumna, Dr. Michelle Choy Sun (’78), who generously brought her collection from the United States to her alma mater.
A Week of Inspiration
The week commenced with a stirring Opening Reception on 7th November, graced by the presence of senior College figures, alumni, and friends. The energy continued into the following Monday with a memorable High Table Dinner, where Dr. Choy Sun, as our Guest of Honour, delivered an insightful address about her artistic journey and the power of creative legacy. A well-attended Artist Talk further engaged students and guests, offering a deeper look into the creative process behind the works.
A Lasting Impact: The James & Michelle Memorial Scholarship
We are thrilled to report that, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, the event has successfully raised a net total of HKD $100,000 for the newly established James and Michelle Memorial Scholarship. This fund will perpetually support students who exemplify the leadership and dedication that James and Michelle embodied, ensuring their spirit continues to shape future generations of St. Johnians.
With Sincere Gratitude
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of many. We extend our deepest appreciation to:
• Our Donors: Your generous contributions are the foundation of this scholarship and its lasting impact.
• Our Artist, Dr. Michelle Choy Sun: Thank you for your incredible talent, generosity in donating a painting, and for being a gracious and inspiring participant throughout.
• Our Volunteers & Organising Committee: Your dedication, particularly from En Yu and June Au, was the driving force behind the seamless execution of every event.
• St. John’s College: Our sincere thanks for the invaluable support and for providing the wonderful venue.
• Every Guest and Supporter: To all who attended, participated, and cheered us on—thank you for making this event a truly memorable community celebration.
This exhibition has beautifully demonstrated the power of our alumni network and the enduring strength of the St. John’s spirit. We look forward to channelling this momentum into future initiatives that continue to connect, honour, and inspire.
With warm regards,
The St. John’s College Alumni Association
