ChatGPT Online Seminar

SJCAA ChatGPT AI Revolution Applications and Implications on Society

The SJCAA Online Seminar on the Transformative Potential of ChatGPT AI was an engaging and thought-provoking event. More than 25 alumni logged in via Zoom for the seminar on April 28, 2023.

The seminar was facilitated by our esteemed alumna, Dr. Amanda Lim. She gave an energetic introduction to the topic through an AI-generated video, setting the stage for our speakers.

Mr. Isaac Wong then took a deep dive into the technology behind ChatGPT AI. He explained the software and companies leading this field in an accessible yet compelling way. Participants gained a clear sense of how ChatGPT works and why it represents such an exciting frontier.

Dr. Kyle Wong explored the implications of ChatGPT AI for society. He discussed the potential applications in various areas of life and work, and considered how it may shape our future. Dr. Wong examined both the promise of this technology as well as risks and challenges it may pose.

The audience was highly engaged, posting many thoughtful questions during the Q&A session. Discussions continued well after the official end of the seminar at 9:50 pm.

At the conclusion of the seminar, SJCAA Chairman Mr. Vincent Chiu extended an invitation to all speakers to a High Table dinner at St. John’s College to experience the College’s tradition of passionate debate and gain insight into how St. John’s cultivates future leaders. As Mr. Chiu noted, while AI cannot replicate human emotions and relationships, College education is integral to developing empathy and character.

SJCAA thanks all participants and speakers for a memorable seminar exploring the possibilities of ChatGPT AI. Both daunting and inspiring, the ideas and insights from this event will stay with attendees as this technology continues to develop.
