We are delighted to invite you to a unique art exhibition that bridges the brilliance of the Renaissance with the creativity of today, while paying a very special tribute to two St. Johnians:
🎨 “Da VINCI MEETS Da VINCI: Reimagining Da Vinci’s Legacy in the 21st Century”
Presented by Dr. Michelle Choy Sun ’78
Honoring the late Mr. James Wong (SJCSA Chair 1976-77) & Ms. Michelle Lam (SJCSA Vice-Chair 1976-77).
In this thought-provoking exhibition, Dr. Michelle Choy Sun invites us to imagine: “If Da Vinci lived today, what would he draw?” Featuring a dialogue between classical sketches and modern interpretations, the exhibition celebrates the legacy of Leonardo da Vinci in our contemporary world. Dr. Sun did the sketches of da Vinci’s original drawings at the gallery of Buckingham Palace to pair with 21st century lifestyles.
This event also serves as a fitting tribute to the legacy of James and Michelle, two pillars of our community who dedicated their time and leadership to St. John’s. We lost Michelle about a year and a half ago and James this past spring. Their profound spirit of service and passion for nurturing community is the driving force behind the scholarship this exhibition supports.
We warmly welcome you to join us in celebrating this artistic journey and reconnecting with fellow alumni. Your presence and support can help us further the James Wong and Michelle Lam Scholarship, dedicated to empowering future generations of creative minds.
At Buckingham Palace, I copied every stroke of
DaVinci’s original drawings and threaded them with 21st century highlights.
This series, about 60 altogether, entitled “What would Da Vinci draw if he were to visit us today?”
