Over 260 Alumni, friends gathered at the Dining Hall of St. John’s College to celebrate the 30th Pearl Anniversary of the New Wing.
After a cocktail party by the College, our Alumni went into the Dining Hall all filled up with the 260 purple Pearl Anniversary Teddy Bears and balloons.
We first watched a video about the old days and then as a tradition, we sang together the College Song led by all the chairmen and chairladies present.
Our president Dr. Vivian Wong addressed us then followed by Rev. Eric Chong. The highlight of the night was when Rev. Paul Tong came out and talked about the establishment of the New Wing 30 years ago.
We were also very glad to have the first generation floor chairladies from the 9/F and 10/F coming back to share with us their memories. Dr. Robert Chung and Dr. Steve Cheung were also on stage to tell us their stories on the 2/F and 1/F during the early 80’s resp.
Within the guests, there were 6 ex-floor janitors (郭哥丶儀姐、玉姐、球姐、娟姐和蘇師父). Our Alumni were very pleased to see them around in this special occasion.
The grand prize of the lucky draw was a precious bottle of 1979 red wine donated by Dr. Alfred Tam. At the end, this bottle went to a sister from the 10/F.
The dinner ended with many St. Johnians continued with their evening by visiting the new St. John’s bar at the billiard room of the Old Wing.
We like to take this opportunity to thank those who joined us in this event as well as the following persons for making this event a success: – Ms. June Au and Mr. James Wong for being the MC of the evening; Mr. James Ho for helping us with the AV systems and the red wines; Ms. Vicky Li for combining the slides and video shows together; and other organizing committee Ms. Stephanie TY Lam, Ms. Stephanie Lam, Mr. Nixon Lee, Ms. Agnes Kan as well.
