4/F Won the Alumni Inter-floor Golf Competition

Dear Members,

Re: SJCAA Golf Day 2004

Once again, the event turns out to be a great success, although this is our first attempt to hold this large-scale event across the border. So, the distance factor has not deterred our participants? enthusiasm at all.

November 26th (Friday) was a cool and comfortable day, sunny and a hit windy. 32 players participated in the event, representing 8 floors (all except 2/F and 10/F). The 1/F brothers once again won the Most Supportive Floor with 9 participants. But the most commendable floor (probably no one will dispute) must go to the House of Lords (4/F), because 8 alumni of different vintages participated despite their ?minority? status. What a ?United Kingdom?!

Not surprisingly, the House of Lords team (Albert Chan and Philip Lo) won the Inter-Floor Competition with a total score of 184 (91 + 93), followed by (3/F) (William Tsao and Rocky Sun) and 1/F (Ken Chan and Vincent Cheung). Congratulations!

Competition on the Individual front was extremely fierce as expected and the results are :-

Men?s Gross Champion : Edmond Wu Ka Po (5/F) (88)
1st Runners-Up : William Tsao (3/F) (89)
Net Champion : Mok Ho Yuen (5/F) (74.8)
1st Runners-Up : Ken Chan (1/F) (75.4)

Ladies Gross Champion : Anita Ng (9/F) (109)
1st Runners-Up : Iris Hau (8/F) (113)
Net Champion : Iris Hau (8/F) (79.4)
1st Runners-Up : Ida Mak (9/F) (80.2)

Longest Drive : Albert Chan (4/F) (almost 300 yds)
Closest to the Pin : Vincent Cheung (1/F) (7 ft)
Most Birdies : Edmond Wu Ka Po (5/F) (2 birdies)
Most Pars : Philip Lo (4/F) (6 pars)

As promised, tons of golf balls, presents and souvenirs were given away after the event. All participants received for free a very useful sports bag with a SJCAA logo and all lady participants received a beauty coupon worth $500.00 on top. If you could not join us that day, see what you have missed, apart from the fun and joy of the day! Attached is the overall result of all players.

Our thanks must go to Cleeve Chan, Edmond Wu, James Wong and Ken Chan who have done most of the work of the event, backed by GIG?s executive committee members.

But before the dust of this event is settled, we are already gearing up for our next major event ? the Golf Malayan Cup with Ricci Hall. Still remember the landslide victory last year (7 to 1). But please don?t be complacent! You know for sure the Riccians will return with all their best players next year. As agreed, we will be the host team this year. An organizing committee under Team Captain Cleeve Chan (6/F) will be formed very soon. You continual support is definitely the key to our success this year. May be we need some practice rounds in January/February 2005 as the match will be held in March. Please let us know your ideas!

As we are coming to the end of 2004, we would like to take this opportunity to say to all of you ??..

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! But most important of all, Good Health! Best of Luck and Happy Golfing 2005!

SJCAA would like to take this opportunity here to thank the GIG commitee members (Philip Lee, Albert Chan, Cleeve Chan, Anita Ng, Karen Kam and Wu Ka Bo) for organising such a successful event.
